Luanda International School is an exciting school in an exciting country. A curriculum based on understanding, teachers intent on building a rapport with their students, secure well-resourced premises and all within what could well be one of the world’s greatest classrooms, Angola.

With 23 years of operation, LIS is fully accredited with the IB, the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the Council of International Schools (CIS). LIS has a very strong local, national and international reputation. This success is directly connected to a dedicated and talented staff, active parental involvement, and a supportive community.

We believe in the unlimited potential of our students by respecting and developing their individual social, emotional and cognitive needs. We set challenging and demanding expectations for growth and support all students to achieve high standards. We foster a culture of civility where students and adults are treated with fairness, are respected for their contributions, and are celebrated for their effort and successes.

Firstly, happy children and school communities require a strong sense of belonging and common purpose. Throughout the school there is a refreshing commitment to foster student engagement through hands-on inquiry, commitment to meaningful action and service and a dedication to value learning through the lense of inquiry and academic achievement as a result of grit and growth mindset. The common purpose that fosters this has now evolved through a future-focused Board, a very hands-on Parent Teacher Association and a talented and committed teaching faculty. Secondly, the school has genuine ambition. This is shown not just by the enormous investment in buildings, programmes and teachers, but also by a desire of all members of the school community to see the school engage in continuous improvement. Resting on laurels is not an option nor is beating our chests
